Since 2005, the festival “The Summers of Dance” proves to be the big international meeting of classical and contemporary dance of the summer in the capital. Each new edition has a great dance company. 2011 will be marked by the arrival of the Miami City Ballet, on the occasion of his 25th birthday on stage at the Theatre du Chatelet. Directed by Edward Villella, the company, which is one of the most prestigious U.S. sublime major ballets of classical and modern since 1985 but also works more confidential.
The Miami City Ballet will present for the first time this summer on a Parisian stage, 8 ballets by George Balanchine (“Square Dance “, “Ballet Imperial”, “Theme and Variations, ” “The Four Temperaments / The Four Temperaments, ” “Symphony in Three Movements, “” La Valse, “” Tarantella, “” Western Symphony “) but also the creations of Jerome Robbins (” Afternoon of a Faun, “” In the Night “), Twyla Tharp (” In the Upper Room “” Nine Sinatra Songs “), Paul Taylor (” Mercuric Tidings “) and Christopher Wheeldom (” Liturgy “).
